 Farming, often underestimated and undervalued, plays a crucial role in sustaining economies, especially in rural areas like Sta. Catalina. The agricultural sector serves as the backbone of many communities, providing not just food but also a significant source of income. Corn, rice, cauliflower, and cabbage, among other products, are not just crops grown for local consumption but are also exported, contributing to the circulation of money within the municipality. This circulation of income not only supports the livelihood of farmers but also helps in boosting the overall economy, making it vibrant and active.

Despite the importance of farming, there is often a lack of awareness regarding its significance. The dismissive attitude of some towards farming is evident in phrases like "It's just farming, what can you get with it?" However, stories like that of Uncle Realin from SCA shed light on how farming transforms lives. For him, farming was not just a means of survival but a pathway to a better future for his children. Through hard work and dedication, he managed to send his children to school, paving the way for them to pursue successful careers.

 

Moreover, addressing ethical issues such as discrimination and lack of government support is essential. In SCA, progress has been made, with farmers receiving assistance like financial aid, free fertilizer, and seedlings, illustrating the positive impact of collaborative efforts between communities and authorities in supporting farming livelihoods.

Getting There...

 Days pass by so fast, another quarter is again finished. Third quarter was smooth but still tough at the same time, the environment became more lighter as I open myself more to people inside the school. Though, I felt like I restarted my whole body to overcome this quarter.

I was thinking, "How can I make myself proud this time? How do I keep things steady within me?" Days in school were good, full of fun and trying out new stuff. The subjects, especially the assignments from our teachers, were interesting. It made me realize I could be someone who's really into things, not just a student learning stuff. I wanted to not go too hard on myself. I wanted to shake off the problems I had in the previous quarter and slowly change some not-so-great habits. I just wanted to enjoy my time in Maxwell without stressing too much - But getting rid of the pressure I put on myself was tough. I kept telling myself to take it slow, but that inner pressure stuck around like air, messing with my thoughts sometimes.

Looking ahead, I'm all in for exploring without worrying too much about school risks. There were still some letdowns, but they didn't ruin the good vibes of the quarter. I want to thank myself for trying and not letting things get me down. A reminder to myself that, reaching your goals takes time and effort, give a mix of hard work and passion. Whether it's a tough or smooth ride, trying doesn't make you any less.

 Every March, the global community unites in honoring Women's History Month, a dedicated period aimed at recognizing and celebrating the invaluable contributions made by women throughout history and in modern society. This annual event serves as a platform to pay tribute to the achievements of women across various domains, while also acknowledging the ongoing struggles they face in their quest for equality and acknowledgment.

Women's Month offers an occasion to acknowledge and applaud the remarkable accomplishments of women in all spheres of life. From pioneering scientists and revolutionary politicians to innovative entrepreneurs and inspirational activists, women have significantly impacted various fields, enriching our collective human experience.

Nevertheless, despite strides towards gender equality, Women's Month also serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring challenges confronting women. Issues such as discrimination, gender-based violence, wage disparities, and limited access to education and healthcare persistently impede women's full participation and advancement in society. Furthermore, intersectional factors such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status exacerbate these challenges, underscoring the need for comprehensive, intersectional approaches to address gender inequality.

Women's Month is not merely a time for reflection but also a rallying call for action. It presents an opportunity to amplify women's voices, advocate for their rights, and cultivate environments that foster gender equality and inclusivity. Empowering women economically, politically, and socially is imperative for constructing more equitable and prosperous societies. Progress towards dismantling systemic barriers and creating opportunities for women to flourish can be achieved through education, mentorship, policy reform, and grassroots activism.

As we commemorate Women's Month, let us celebrate the achievements of women both past and present. "The Best High School Day"

 The preparations for the 122nd High School Day were arduous, involving challenges for both teachers and students. There were numerous practice sessions for the field demonstration, prop-making tasks, and condensed class hours dedicated to practice sessions. Despite these challenges, the effort was worthwhile as every participant was seen smiling throughout the day.

The field demonstration required participation from students across grades 7 to 10, each grade presenting their own festival theme. In Grade 10, we showcased the Sinulog Festival, with the boys winning the "CHAMPION" title and the girls securing 3rd Place in the competition.

Following the field demonstration, the school organized a charity concert involving bands from the Grade 10 special science class, senior high school, and teachers. The concert featured songs by artists such as Ben&Ben, Taylor Swift, Callalily, Eraserheads, Air Supply, and more, creating a rollercoaster of emotions as students sang, laughed, and even shed tears during the performances.

Reflecting on these memorable experiences, I echo the sentiment expressed by fellow students that this was undoubtedly the best High School Day. I acknowledge the dedication of the teachers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the 122nd High School Day truly unforgettable, emphasizing the essence of such a significant event. I hope that everyone has the opportunity to cherish equally memorable high school days.
